MS UNITED STATES VIRGIN ISLAND and MS. SENIOR AMERICA 2010,
DR. KIMBERLEY MOORE

Ms. Senior America 2010, Dr. Kimberly Moore Dr. Kimberly A. Moore was born in St. Louis, Missouri. Her father, Samuel Moore, and mother, Velma Moore, parented thirteen children: eight girls and five boys. Her only daughter, LaParisienne Brown, is married to Ashley Brown of New Orleans, Louisiana. Paris, as she is affectionately called, is a graduate of Xavier University, New Orleans and Southern University of New Orleans. Dr. Moore is divorced.

She is a product of the St. Louis Public Schools; completing high school at O’Fallon Tech and later enrolling at Harris Teachers College in St. Louis, Missouri (now Harris Stowe State College), where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. After nine consecutive years of teaching, Dr. Moore became eligible for a leave of absence for one year with half her salary. She could either travel or study with the understanding she would return to the classroom after completing the sabbatical leave.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, she divided her studies between pursuing her Masters Degree in Counseling and the prerequisites for dental school.

After the school year was over, she applied and was accepted to the University of Missouri, Kansas City Dental School. Dr. Moore simultaneously completed her Masters Degree and received her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in 1988.

While reading a magazine article, featuring the Virgin Islands, Dr. Moore recalled the beauty of the islands and how wonderful the people were when she and her ex-husband vacationed there years ago. She decided to revisit St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. It was more beautiful than ever and became indelibly etched in her mind. She vowed to, one day, having her own dental practice there.

Subsequently, she relocated to Los Angeles, California to start a new career. It began at the Watts Health Foundation in the dental department.

To broaden her experience, as well as to indulge in her love for traveling, Dr. Moore took on a series of independent contract dentist positions, starting with Fort Ord Military Base, Monterey California, then Alameda Coast Guard Island, Alameda California, finally, Orlando Naval Training Center in Orlando, Florida. This last position brought her closer to the Virgin Islands, where for the past seventeen years she has been in private practice on both St. Thomas and St. John. At this time, she devotes herself only to the St. Thomas office.

Dr. Moore is a former member of the St. Thomas Rotary Club, Toast Masters Club, President of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc., Theta Tau Sigma Chapter, an active member in the Virgin Islands Dental Association, the American and National Dental Associations, and American Association of Women Dentists. She enjoys reading, traveling, tennis and working out. Dr. Moore is also a jazz enthusiast and the former owner of LaParisienne Jazz Club, named after her daughter.
